Countries in the Network

The countries in the Network are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. This region represents about 9% of the world’s population. These countries are not only in different stages of economic development, they are also in different stages of development in the field of statistics. Through the outreach committee, the different countries can come together to support the growth of statistical activities in the region.

Network Activities

I. Growing Membership

Country representative and other members of the network will assist in growing the membership of local network nodes;

Network members and colleagues will assist in growing the membership across countries.

II. Contribution to Country Activities

The network will provide non-funding support to country activities by accessing the resources available at the ISI;

Members may request the network to be co-sponsors or co-organizers of workshops, conferences or seminars (non-funding roles).

III. Sharing of Information

Information and knowledge will be shared across and within countries through the following possible channel;

Website which will have information about objectives of the Network, Its governing structure, members, activities and newsletters;

Newsletters, which will carry reports on activities, short articles of interest, and such other information of interest to members.

IV. Past and Current Activities

• The Network organized the ISI RSC Regional Statistics Conference on 16-19 November 2014. The conference was co-organized with Bank Negara Malaysia, Department of Statistics, Malaysia and Malaysia Institute of Statistics. (Here)
